Middleton's Former VW Auctioned

The starting bid for the car was offered at £20,000 but no bids had yet been placed. The auction will close July 24.The Volkswagen previously owned by the Duchess of Cambridge was put up for auction on eBay Friday.Catherine had acquired the indigo blue car in 2001 for £10,818 ($17,000), just as her relationship with Prince William began to blossom during their time as students at Scotland's University of St Andrews.

"I went to an auction house in Dorset a few weeks ago and they said it would be worth £30,000 plus, purely because of the name in the log book," Sonny Brazil told the UK's Daily Mail.

The car was later passed down to her younger brother, James Middleton, who sold it in 2009 to Al Brazil, who owns a car dealership near where the Middleton family resides for £1,400.

Brazil's son, Sonny, is now hoping to cash in on the celebrity of the vehicle's first owner.

"I Do Believe this will be the best piece of Royal History anyone could have," he wrote on the product description on the auction's website.
